Being physically active and eating healthy can have a positive effect on our health and wellbeing at any age. Both carers and older adults can benefit from simple changes in daily routine that introduce physical activity and healthy eating choices. Such changes can also diversify the everyday routine and improve the quality of the time spent together. With this in mind, the project partners of the European funded project WHOLE – Wellbeing and Healthy Choices for Older Adults and their Carers (2015-1 DE02-KA204-002418), which comprises experts in the field from Germany, Austria, Greece, Bulgaria, Ireland and Israel, developed a comprehensive e-learning platform to introduce physical activity and healthy nutrition into the daily routine of carers and older adults.
The platform offers an exercise program with exercises in sitting and standing position for the upper and lower body to improve the cardiorespiratory fitness, strength, flexibility, balance and coordination as well as an healthy nutrition program with fact sheets containing practical information for healthy eating in old age. Carers use the platform and implement the exercises together with older adults. The e-learning platform is free can be found here www.project-whole.com
